It’s been a while since I’ve pointed you all in the direction of an important section on our church’s website, www.olmc.church, that outlines some of the pillars of growth in our relationship with Jesus – that allow us to be apprenticed by him.

The story of our success will always be that, with great mission-focused staff and tremendous parishioner support, we have been faithful stewards of the resources God has entrusted to our care.

Our yearly OLMC procession is a powerful expression of our being the Body of Christ. Our public profession of faith demonstrates that God’s love is not confined to the church building. We must bring it out with us when we go.

Our procession is a powerful part of our annual celebration. In a word, it is expressive of our being the Body of Christ.

Jesus has entrusted to us his light-bearing mission: We are to bring God’s love to life wherever we go, no matter the challenges and difficulties. Trusting that Jesus will provide what we need, our only task is to follow his call. The only true measure of our success is our faithfulness to him.

Follow Jesus where he leads. Trust him. Follow him on the path of patient, forgiving, merciful, self-effacing, other-oriented LOVE that he opens up for us, here and now, to walk with him.

The Council of Trent declared that “the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained” in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Simply put, when Jesus said, “this is my body, which will be given up for you,” he meant it.

There are many reasons why knowing God, as he is in himself, is important. The one that always comes to mind for me is the fact that we are made in the image and likeness of God. If we want to know who we are, then we must in some measure know who God is.

Pentecost, then, isn’t merely about grain being gathered. It’s also about God giving to his people the Law, the way of life by which they are to live for him and his good purposes.
