Faith and Forgiveness
swimming against the stream

Dear Friends,

Just a short email this week. It's a mercy to not make you read a missive.

In our Gospel passage this weekend we see the Apostles begging Jesus to increase their faith. This makes sense, because he just told them to do the impossible: Forgive!

If you don't think forgiveness is all that hard - or even if you do - then check out this story:

The triumph of forgiveness in action.

Shocking? Unbelievable? Unreal? Impossible? Sure.

Remember my quote from CS Lewis last week? That, "Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people live."

Put that together with this gem from GK Chesterton: "A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it."

Brandt Jean, made alive by trusting and following Jesus, is swimming against the stream.

We can, too.

For whom will you embody the merciful love of God this week?

With Love,
Father Daniel
