PASTOR'S NOTE: Apr 06, 2025
Dear Saints,
It’s hard to believe there are only two weeks left until Easter. As with most journeys, in some ways it feels like we started yesterday and in some ways it feels like we’ve been at it for months rather than weeks. With so little left to go, it’s worth reflecting back on the commitments we made and goals we set at the beginning. What did we hope to accomplish this Lent? More to the point, who did we hope to become?
The reality is that as long as we’re on this Earth, there is no real neutral. We’re always headed in one direction or another: either towards God or away from him. As I said in my Ash Wednesday letter, Lent is a time to develop a firm disposition to go towards him. And these last two weeks are the season’s final push towards that end.
That’s 14 days of intentional prayer; 14 days of genuine fasting; 14 days of generous almsgiving. In short, 14 days to die to self, so that we may rise to new life in Jesus. Let’s make the most of these two weeks so that, when the dawn breaks on Easter, we’ll have become people who run towards God with all our might.
Christ’s Peace,
Father Daniel
