PASTOR'S NOTE: August 11, 2024

Dear Saints,

Sometimes it’s worth noting what Jesus doesn’t say. In today’s Gospel, for example, he doesn’t say “everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him might come to me” or “everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him has the option to come to me.” He says “everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me.” For those whom God draws, Jesus is like a magnet: they are irresistibly attracted to him.

But it doesn’t end there. As members of his body, we too become magnetized, as the gathering force of God runs through us to the whole world.

At least, it should run through us. The key is to let it happen, and for that we look to St. Paul’s wisdom: “all bitterness, fury, anger, shouting, and reviling must be removed from you, along with all malice. And be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.”

Nourished by Jesus’ own body and blood, we find the strength to journey wherever God leads us, for as long as it takes, persevering in the love that endures forever

Christ’s Peace,

Father Daniel
