Dear Saints,
This is it! This Sunday is the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the day we’ve spent weeks preparing for. By way of reminder, we’ll begin our procession and recitation of the Rosary at 12:15 (just after the 11:00 Mass), with a potluck lunch at School Street School and fun and games for the whole family to follow. I hope you can join us! And if you’re not able to make it, please join us in prayer - that’s just as important!
Have you ever wondered why we process through the streets of Boonton on this day? Think about singing the national anthem at a ballgame, or the time entire neighborhoods rang bells from their porches in support of healthcare workers during the pandemic. There’s something very compelling about a group of joyful people standing shoulder to shoulder in pursuit of a common good. Our annual procession is a powerful expression to our neighbors - and a beautiful reminder to ourselves - of what it means to be the Body of Christ, the highest good of all. We have been knitted together by God’s love, and it is for us to walk together in solidarity as he moves and works among and through us for the good of his whole world. This is our chance to manifest our commitment to him and express our willingness to let his peace, generosity, and love flow through us to everyone we meet.
Christ’s Peace,
Father Daniel
