Dear Saints,
And just like that, we’re back to school!
Some of the extraordinarily hot days recently have had me running from the sun’s intensity, wishing for a change of weather. But as we eye the end of summer, with only a few days left until we start the new academic year, the heat is on at OLMC School to finish our preparations to accommodate the more than 300 students who will grace our halls this year.
The numbers are staggering, especially when you consider the backdrop of decline against which our successes shine all the more brightly. At a time when Catholic school enrollments in the region are dwindling, more and more families are choosing OLMC School - and our classical Catholic approach - as an educational partner in the formation of their children’s hearts and minds. It’s safe to say that our secret is out!
There’s an air of excitement around Our Lady of Mount Carmel these days. After being scattered by summer, September gathers us together. There’s more energy, then, around the place. There are more people, and so, more possible friends. Being a new year, we’re looking forward to a fresh start, a new beginning with seemingly endless possibilities.
We have many successes to celebrate at the church and school, but I’ll save those for another day. The only point I’ll offer now is that God is blessing OLMC in almost every conceivable way so that we can be a blessing for others. If we entrust ourselves to God – if we give ourselves over to him and find our place in his plan – then we will only go from blessing to blessing this year. Our parish motto is Lumen Gentium, and I have great hope that we will continue to grow into God’s call on our life this year to be his light to the world.
One of the ways we’ll go from blessing to blessing is by the good work of our annual gala. Put November 19th on your calendar now!
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon. Please be in touch for any reason whatever.
Christ’s Peace,
Father Daniel
