Together, we just abolished $4.3M in medical debt

You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requires of you: Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.
— Micah 6:8

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to announce that, thanks to your generosity, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel community has abolished $4,393,033.55 of medical debt! By the grace of God, and through partnership with RIP Medical Debt, we have been able to lift the crushing weight of unpaid bills, debt collectors, and financial strain during low-points of sickness and disability for 3,602 New Jersey residents.

Because of you, RIP Medical Debt is sending letters to the beneficiaries this week, letting them know that help is on the way. What a joy, to imagine the relief in store for so many of our most vulnerable neighbors. I hope you can take a moment and contemplate the real and immediate impact your love is about to have on people you don’t even know.

St. Gregory Nazianzen once said: “Give something, however small, to the one in need. For it is not small to one who has nothing. Neither is it small to God, if we have given what we could.” Thank you, my friends, for your amazing charity. It is an honor to know you and a blessing to work alongside you as we bring God’s light and love to every corner of our state.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Father Daniel O’Mullane
