Dear Saints,
I hope you haven't tired of the Christmas season yet... we're just getting started!
How great it is to have this time to reflect on God's being born among us (Christmastide), and his revealing himself in and as Jesus of Nazareth (Epiphanytide).
Let's keep the celebration going strong through (at least) the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (January 9)!
The Adoration of the Shepherds
Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, c.1650
This Sunday, we celebrate The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. This feast gives us a lot of food for thought.
For instance, how remarkable it is that God is born into a home, that he has a family life!
Or how incredible it is that God subjects himself to his parents, that God entrusts himself to the care of a human mother and father!
Do you have a favorite reflection on the feast? Send me a note by replying to this email if you'd like to share.
There's certainly a lot to stir our minds and imaginations this season, but the primary effect of our reflections should be that our hearts are moved and our lives become more aligned with God and his way. How can this not happen when we see what lengths Love goes for us?
I look forward to seeing you - and celebrating Christmas with you - soon.
In the Love of the Holy Family,
Father Daniel
