PASTOR'S LETTER: APRIL 4 - APRIL 5, 2020

From the Desk of Fr. Daniel

Dear Saints,

Please continue to check the parish website (www.olmc.church), especially the Mount Carmel Mission Hub, for updated information.

Although in-person Masses continue to be suspended, it is important that quarantine not turn into total isolation. We are social beings after all - know that you are not alone.

Keeping social distancing in mind, we still have use of our beautiful church. Activities that may be carried out safely in and around that sacred space include: Adoration, Confession, and private prayer. See the website or bulletin for schedules.

AN IDEA FOR PALM SUNDAY

How can we publicly acknowledge this important day on our calendar when so many of us will be behind closed doors? Here’s an idea that’s trending (from the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit):

What if everyone on Sunday April 5 in the morning, puts a branch on the door of their house or on the window, to celebrate Palm Sunday?

It could be any green branch you can get. This would help, despite the social distancing, to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks.

Want to join?

We may be physically isolated, but not separated. We are united as the body of Christ.

We are the Church.

Their final point is no throwaway line: We may not be able to go to church, but we are still called to be the Church.

I look forward to seeing you soon, my friends.

Christ's Peace,

Father Daniel
