Dear Friends,
I am currently on a ten-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Know of my prayers for you and your intentions as I walk in the footsteps of Jesus. I am eager to bring the blessings of my journey home to you.
So far I’ve only shared a little bit about our church-audio upgrade. I am attaching here a writeup from Chris Ramsden, who has been spearheading this project for us. We’re very excited to see this project through to its conclusion sometime before Easter.
To give directly to this appeal, please make a note in the memo of a check, give online to the specific appeal, or just write and let me know.
In the Peace of Christ,
Father Daniel

Audio System Upgrade
The audio system upgrade at Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a comprehensive replacement and much needed upgrade for the sanctuary of the church, an acoustically-live space. Replacing the existing inadequate audio system will dramatically increase the quality, flexibility and consistency of sound with a particular focus on speech intelligibility and microphone feedback resistance. The current audio system is comprised of generally good-quality equipment, but is oftentimes not ideal for the acoustical, architectural, and operational configuration of the church. The new system design is intended to provide a capable, reliable, and flexible foundation that significantly enhances the impact of OLMC’s ministries.
Highlights include:
The new speaker system will be built around Danley Sound Labs speakers that are well known among speaker designs in their ability to achieve the goals of clarity and intelligibility over distance as well as accommodation of widely-varied audio programming formats in a package that balances cost, aesthetics, and acoustical performance.
Speakers will be installed in the narthex, which has become something of an active cry room in recent years, making participation in mass possible as a result of the live sound feed.
Driving the new audio system will be a Rane Terminal digital system mainframe processor which will perform all audio processing functions, input mixing, level control, and auto mixing/balancing, as well as provide all system equalization, filtering, crossover, delay, routing, distribution, and loudspeaker protection functions.
Pre-programmed color touch screen panels with a user-friendly interface will be installed to simplify using the audio system to meet the various needs of non-technical, parish personnel.
New SHURE microphones will be installed improving sound systemwide exponentially. SHURE continues to set the worldwide industry standard for superior, reliable products.
Remote antennas will be installed to allow the wireless microphone systems to function churchwide. With this increased flexibility, the vacant choir loft becomes a rejuvenated worship space and makes real the possibility of a future relocation there by the choir.
Completely new wiring will be installed replacing the wiring, plates, and patch panels throughout the system in order to eliminate the numerous sloppy or faulty connections and poor levels of dress and finish out that plague the entire existing configuration.
