Love, All the Way Through
joining the Jesus revolution
Dear Friends,
This weekend's Gospel passage contains Jesus' exhortation to make God and his purposes the mission focus of our lives.
Let me clip part of the passage to demonstrate how radical the Jesus Revolution is:
Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
The master will serve his servants?! It can't be... this is not what masters do! But it's exactly what God - as Jesus of Nazareth - has done and continues to do.
Jesus is turning the tables on the world and its ways. In the world, having power over others is seen as strength. In the Kingdom of God power is our participation in Love, pouring out God's extravagant blessing on - giving ourselves recklessly away to - everyone he calls us to serve.
The Good News of this passage is that Jesus has opened up a path for us to live his way of life: to love God and neighbor all the way through. By trusting and following Jesus we join the Jesus Revolution. Through him, and with him, and in him we will put the world to rights.
Christ's Peace,
Father Daniel
